As has only now become known, a knife attack took place early on Saturday morning in an apartment in the Vorarlberg municipality of Götzis. A drunken Somali attacked a fellow countryman and seriously injured him. The perpetrator was arrested by the police.
Last Saturday around 5:40 am, two men – both Somalis, according to police reports – got into an argument in an apartment in Götzis. The argument quickly escalated and eventually culminated in the 23-year-old perpetrator attacking his opponent, who was a year older than him, with a kitchen knife and stabbing him repeatedly. The victim suffered serious injuries, but his life is out of danger.
Heavily drunk
The 23-year-old, who according to the police was heavily drunk at the time of the crime, was arrested at the scene and taken to Feldkirch prison on the orders of the public prosecutor. He has since been taken into custody.
The investigation into intentional serious bodily harm is carried out by the Vorarlberg State Criminal Investigation Department, in cooperation with the Götzis police station.
