Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton called it one “revolt” and claimed that Democrats committed “multiple violations” of General Assembly rules.

In a statement, the president of Joe Bidenhas reacted to the ouster of lawmakers, describing the vote as “shocking, undemocratic and unprecedented”.

“Instead of debating the issue, these Republican lawmakers have chosen to punish, silence, and expel the representatives elected by the people of Tennessee,” Biden stressed, reiterating his request for Congress to legislate that restricts the sale of weapons.
