Curious accident Sunday afternoon in the Tyrolean winter sports resort of Sölden: An unknown skier fell one and a half meters from the chairlift shortly after entering – after getting up immediately, he touched the skis of a woman, who then also lifted a chair from the lift and injured himself. The stranger then fled.
The incident took place around 3 p.m. in the Gampe district of Sölden. The unknown skier wanted to get on the 6-seater chairlift “Langegg” there when he suddenly lost his balance and fell on a lift chair that was already occupied.
“Then the man fell from a height of about one and a half meters while he was still in the station. The man immediately got up and there was contact with the skis of a 52-year-old German who was sitting on the lift chair,” the police said.
As a result, the woman also fell out of the lift chair – she suffered serious injuries in the process. The man, who is believed to have been unharmed, left the scene of the accident without leaving his details.
Woman flown to clinic, witnesses wanted
After first aid, the injured German was flown by rescue helicopter to the clinic in Innsbruck. Police are now looking for witnesses to the accident.
