Drama Tuesday in Oberndorf in the Tyrolean district of Kitzbühel: the driver of a truck (23) collided with the car of an 86-year-old. All help came too late for the elderly driver, who died at the scene of the accident.
The accident happened around 7:45 am. The 86-year-old drove his car on Josef-Hager-Strasse in the direction of the intersection with Pass-Thurn-Strasse and turned onto the state highway in the direction of St. Johann. At the same time, the 23-year-old was driving a truck with a trailer coming from St. Johann on Pass-Thurn-Straße in the direction of Kitzbühel.
Witnesses raised the alarm and began providing first aid
“Despite the immediate braking and swerving to the left by the truck driver, he was unable to avoid a collision and a perpendicular collision with the car occurred near the driver’s door,” the police said. Two witnesses immediately set the rescue chain in motion. They then removed the 86-year-old from the vehicle and administered first aid.

Despite the first aid measures of the witnesses and the emergency doctor, the 86-year-old died at the scene of the accident. The truck driver was not injured. Traffic in the vicinity of the accident site was alternately halted from the time of the accident until the end of the work at 9.30 am.
In addition to the rescue service, spray and emergency doctor, several police patrols and the fire brigade of Oberndorf and St. Johann in Tirol, towing service and road maintenance were present.
