On Wednesday morning there was a traffic accident near the St. Michael interchange (Leoben district) in Styria, in which a 51-year-old employee was hit through the side door of a semi-trailer and was seriously injured.
Around 10 a.m., a stranger drove a lorry with a semi-trailer and trailer on the S36. The trailer’s load protruded more than two meters to the rear. For this, the right side door was secured with a tension strap.
Hit by the side door of the trailer
At the same time, a 51-year-old from Southeast Styria was carrying out asphalt work near the St. Michael interchange in the direction of Vienna. The man was then hit through the side door of the trailer and seriously injured. He was taken to the UKH Graz by the rescue helicopter Christophorus 17. The driveway was closed for about 30 minutes.
The unknown driver drove on without stopping. It is currently unclear whether the driver noticed the incident or not.
Relevant information on the driver of the semi-trailer combination and information from witnesses is requested from the Gleinalm Motorway Police Inspectorate on 059133/6328 or on the emergency call 133.
