Breathe a sigh of relief in Ansfelden (Upper Austria)! After the fire in a residential building over the Easter weekend, the structural engineers now have to release the last part of the building. However, three apartments remain uninhabitable for the time being.
Most tenants of the apartment building in Ansfelden are allowed to return to their own four walls after the fire. However, only in two weeks. “The roof and facade will be repaired, the broken doors will be replaced and dangerous places will be removed,” reports Mayor Christian Partoll (FPÖ). In any case, the structural engineers would have approved the building and renovation work would already be underway.
Three apartments too badly damaged
The three apartments on the top floor of the building remain uninhabitable for the time being. One burned out completely, the others were badly damaged. One of the affected housing units was occupied by two people, another by one and the third apartment was empty before the fire.
So three residents can’t go back yet. Local boss Partoll wants to find solutions for them, such as replacement apartments from the neighborhood cooperative.
Two wings are open
The repairs only concern that part of the apartment building in which the burnt-out apartment is located. The other two parts of the building were released after the night of fire.
