A cruel case of animal cruelty has happened in the Upper Drautal. Unknown people simply left a half-starved family of cats in a forest, along with the kittens who were only one or two days old.
Hikers had to make a sad discovery in a forest in the upper Drautal. Strangers had simply abandoned an entire cat family with newborn kittens. The animals were completely dehydrated, the kittens only one or two days old. Fortunately, contact could be made with a cat expert from Upper Carinthia, who saved the two adults with the little ones.
The cat family was very hungry
“The cats were easy to catch. They were very hungry. I am lost for words. Who does such a thing?” Yvonne Linder, who has been committed to animal welfare in Upper Carinthia for years, is shocked. The adult cats are probably mother and daughter. “Someone just brought the cats into the woods during birth or shortly after,” Linder suspects. The cats would have starved to death because they were in such a pitiful condition.
The velvet paws were immediately taken to the vet and received IVs. Now the cat family can recover from the hardships of the Linder family. “The little ones have to be provided with milk for rearing, because the mother cat is completely emaciated,” explains the animal lover.
