On Tuesday afternoon, a 53-year-old truck driver reported a medical emergency in Graz-St. Peter (Styria), from which he later died in hospital.
At around 12:15 a.m., a 56-year-old man drove his trailer westbound on the St. Peter Belt, using the left lane. The 53-year-old drove his truck behind him. Before the Raaba interchange, the 56-year-old had to stop his vehicle due to traffic. However, the 53-year-old behind him could not stop his trailer in time and the collision occurred. The reason for the accident may have been a medical emergency.
Motionless in the driver’s cab
The 56-year-old got out and wanted to contact the other driver. He found him motionless in his driver’s cab. The 53-year-old man was not approachable. The 56-year-old then notified the emergency services.
Two police patrols performed first aid until the Red Cross and the emergency doctor arrived. The victim was taken by ambulance to the Graz regional hospital, but he died there.
