A heart attack faked – taxi drivers as victims: whoever helps gets robbed!

Date:

An Innsbruck taxi driver describes how a passenger faked a heart attack and his accomplice stole the wallet. Apparently not an isolated case, because when the 33-year-old described the incident in a WhatsApp group of the taxi drivers, he was surprised.

You want to save a human life – and minutes later you’re sitting there with no wallet! The Innsbruck taxi driver Devran Karademir (33) fell victim to a very nasty trick on Monday evening.

“I was called from the main station to Mentlgasse 5 around 4:15 am,” says the taxi driver from Hall. A passenger who seemed quite normal stood there with two boxes of books and wanted to put them in the back seat. “He went around the back of the taxi, then suddenly fell to the ground and grabbed his heart,” says Karademir. He called 911 and sedated the man, who appeared to be experiencing shortness of breath.

“Wonderful cure” in minutes
The patient did not want to go with the rescue team that had arrived, he experienced a kind of “miracle cure” and ran away. “I wished him a speedy recovery and had to go to another job. There I noticed that my wallet was gone!” While the taxi driver was performing “first aid” in an exemplary manner, it turned out that an accomplice had stolen the taxi wallet containing about 750 euros from the compartment on the door.

Why is that so obvious? “We taxi drivers have a large WhatsApp group and I warned about the incident there. Several colleagues reported having had similar experiences,’ says the 33-year-old from Hall. In another case the attempt was made, in another case the accomplice grabbed while the taxi driver wanted to put a bag in the trunk.

The next day, the suspect was back in the cafe
In the Karademir case, the police caught the suspected perpetrator in the early morning in Mentlgasse and seized 605 euros, but the wallet itself had disappeared. That same evening comes the big surprise: “My cousin runs a cafe near the Sillpark, where the alleged perpetrator was quietly drinking a beer.”

Reports of theft would have been made on a large scale. Karademir is worried: “Who wants to give first aid if it ends like this?”
