A Russian woman tried to kill an acquaintance in New York to steal her identity. Viktoria Nazirova gave her beautician a piece of cheesecake that was poisoned – after which she stole her passport and work permit. The victim survived the attack. The now 47-year-old has now been sentenced to a long prison term.
The bizarre case occurred in 2016. Nasyrowa was very similar to her victim Olga Tsvyk – that led the Russian to an insidious plan.
Perpetrator wanted to feign suicide
Nasyrowa visited the eyelash stylist at her home in Queens and brought three slices of cheesecake from a well-known bakery – eating two herself and offering Tsvyk another portion laced with poison. She then started vomiting and had to lie down. She was suffering from hallucinations and was about to have a heart attack, doctors confirmed in court. Before leaving, Nazirova took her passport, money and other belongings with her. She then sprinkled pills on her victim’s body to make it look like a suicide, prosecutors said at trial.
In court, Tsvyk explained that she had been unable to sleep for months after the incident – she was also afraid to go to work. She was very suspicious of people and was constantly afraid that Nazirova would “come back and finish what she started”.
Russian woman would have killed before
DNA traces on the cheesecake box convicted the perpetrator. She was charged with attempted murder and assault, among other charges. It’s said it wasn’t the woman’s only criminal act: She’s accused of murdering a neighbor in Russia and burning his body before fleeing to New York City. Russian authorities searched for Nasyrowa through Interpol.
She would also have stolen from acquaintances as a dominatrix: she would have drugged and robbed men she had met on dating sites.
During the trial, the judge called the defendant “an extremely dangerous woman” and called her plan “diabolical”. He eventually sentenced her to 21 years in prison. Nazirova showed little remorse and berated the judge with the words “F*** you!” (F*** you!)
