The general secretary of the UNAntónio Guterres has said the attacks represent “another unacceptable escalation of the war” for which civilians are “paying the highest price”.
“The Secretary General is deeply shocked by today’s large-scale missile strikes by the armed forces of the Russian Federation,” his spokesman, Stéphane Dujarric, said in a statement.
For his part, the chairman of United StatesJoe Biden has denounced that the attacks demonstrate the “absolute brutality” of Russian President Vladimir Putin in his “illegal” war in Ukraine.
“These attacks have killed and injured civilians and destroyed non-military targets,” he said in a White House statement, also extending his condolences to the families, friends and acquaintances of the victims.
