150,000 euros in damage – Italians rented a ski hut and disappeared

Date:

Two Italians who had rented a ski hut in the Fanningberg ski area in Weißpriach in Lungau simply disappeared after the season without paying their suppliers. For the time being, a damage of 151,000 euros has been established. The two rented the established Salzburg hut in October 2022 for a Swiss tourism company and ordered drinks, food, heating material and kitchen appliances from wholesalers, police reported on Saturday.

The goods were delivered by truck before the start of winter, because the ski hut can only be reached by lift or Skidoo when the lift is in operation. The two men paid the rent for the hut until January 2023, but the suppliers delayed them until the end of March, as money would soon arrive from Italy. On March 30, the lift crew informed the cabin owner that no one was there and that the Skidoo belonging to the cabin was parked with the key on at the base station.

Gastro equipment just brought along
The landlord inspected the hut and found that no one was there and that the tenants had brought various kitchen and catering equipment. Initial investigations have revealed that as of December 28, 2022, only one of the tenants runs the ski lodge and the second may have retired in Switzerland, police said.
