After the deadly machete attack in Jägerstraße U6 station, the detectives are now one small step further. The identity of the victim has been clarified. It concerns a 31-year-old Algerian citizen. The suspect caught afterwards remains silent.
On the night of last Thursday, several foreigners attacked the Algerian in the metro station. He was attacked with machetes and punches and was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he died Thursday afternoon.
The arrested suspect had tried to flee from the police by jumping into the Danube Canal. According to the police, the 24-year-old, also from Algeria, did not confess from the start. No new information has so far become known about the other men involved in the crime who managed to escape at the time. A connection to the drug scene is suspected.
