Heavy smoke and flames – three hours after ironing, a fire broke out in the bedroom. A father (54) in Goldwörth (Upper Austria) rescued his two children (5 and 7) on Wednesday night, who had slept in the next room.
The 40-year-old woman was ironing in the bedroom of the house at around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Then she left the building. She probably forgot to turn off the iron completely – because around 9:50 pm, the 54-year-old husband noticed a lot of smoke and blazing flames in the bedroom on the 1st floor. The children aged 5 and 7 slept in the next room.

The homeowner woke up his children and took them outside. He then threw a blanket over the fire and extinguished the flames. The fire brigades present threw the ironing board and iron from the balcony into the garden and ventilated the house.
Not injured
The children were not injured, the 54-year-old drew a lapel and did not seek medical treatment.
