Last minute rescue of an 84-year-old driver in the US state of Wisconsin: his vehicle caught fire while driving. The pensioner drove on, but, according to the police, wanted to get home despite the danger.
A police patrol saw the burning vehicle and gave chase. Initially, the driver did not respond to the blue lights and the siren, according to images from the emergency vehicle’s dashcam. But eventually the man stopped his car – just in time, because the police officers rushed to him and took the pensioner to safety. No one was injured during the operation.
Police officer on driver’s “bad decision”.
According to police, the car had a flat rear tire and the sparks ignited leaking fluid. “He thought he could come home and that was just a bad decision,” one of the police officers told US media after the incident. According to the information, the driver must now undergo a driver’s license check. It is unclear whether an advertisement will follow.
