Three pilots dead – Two US military helicopters crashed over Alaska

Two US military helicopters crashed in Alaska’s interior on Thursday. Three of the four occupants were killed.

A US Army spokeswoman told the Washington Post that a pilot was injured and taken to hospital.

According to the responsible 11th Airborne Division, the two AH-64 Apache helicopters belonged to a regiment stationed at Fort Wainwright and were returning from a training unit.

Cause of crash unclear
The reason for the crash near the sparsely populated municipality of Healy, about 130 kilometers southwest of Fairbanks, was therefore still unclear. Emergency workers are on site and it is being investigated, the military unit reports on Twitter.
