The sodden road today killed a motorcyclist and his passenger: the two-wheeler went off the road in Pölstal, Murtal district, and was catapulted into a meadow. Both were injured.
The 56-year-old Upper Austrian from the Steyr-Land district drove his motorcycle on Triebener Straße B114 from Hohentauern in the direction of St. Johann am Tauern. He had a 54-year-old passenger on board.
Presumably due to the wet road, the motorcycle left the road shortly before 9.30 am and collided with an adjacent meadow. The 56-year-old and his 54-year-old passenger were injured to an undetermined degree and were taken by rescue helicopter C14 and C17 to the Bruck site of the Hochsteiermark regional hospital and the Judenburg site.
Only a wreck of the motorcycle remained. The accident scene was closed in both directions for approximately 45 minutes.
