Glowing eco-themes like security and peace – the ones closely related to climate change – dominate this year’s Austrian World Summit. But the world summit that will take place in Vienna’s Hofburg on 16 May will also focus on the circular economy and the explosive question of how we can transform our cities into deep green and pleasantly cooling islands in the fight against global warming.
The focus of this year’s conference is primarily on the current geopolitical situation and its major impact on how we deal with the climate crisis. It seems to be falling behind, despite devastating effects in many parts of the world. This concerns solution-oriented approaches such as the circular economy, green building and climate and environmentally friendly urban planning. Even more than in previous years, the afternoon will be devoted to networking and bringing young and innovative ideas together with established, strong international companies.
