A 65-year-old fisherman suddenly disappeared in an Australian national park four days ago. Something bad was suspected, namely a deadly crocodile attack. Human remains have now been found in the belly of a crocodile.
“Police believe these are the remains of the missing 65-year-old man, but the formal identification process is pending,” Queensland Police said on Wednesday. The man suddenly disappeared Saturday while fishing on the Kennedy River in Rinyirru (Lakefield) National Park. He was considered an accomplished fisherman.
Crocodiles euthanized and autopsied
The river is notorious for its large population of crocodiles. Despite a thorough search of the dangerous waters, there was no trace of the man for days. On Tuesday night, park rangers from the Ministry of the Environment finally discovered two crocodiles, four and nearly three meters long, near the spot where the fisherman was last seen. Both were euthanized and autopsied. After the remains were found, the search for the man has been discontinued, according to the police.
