Wild and especially strange scenes took place in the Tyrolean Unterland on Tuesday evening: An armed and scantily clad young man, who allegedly threatened several people and stole a car key, fled when the police arrived in a stranger’s car. After a chase that included an accident, the suspect wanted to take off on foot and eventually even on horseback (!). But the alleged perpetrator apparently had no driving experience.
The scene of the spectacular police operation was the municipality of Ebbs in the district of Kufstein. Just before 9 p.m., law enforcement received a report of a shirtless man sneaking around parked cars. When a patrol arrived at the scene, the initially unknown man took off with one of the cars.
Threatened people with kitchen knives
“Then it became known that the suspect was a 20-year-old Italian. The fugitive allegedly threatened several people with a knife and a victim whose car keys or subsequently their car were used,” the researchers say.
Several alerted police patrols immediately set out in pursuit of the alleged perpetrator. During the wild chase, the suspect broke through a metal gate with the car before crashing into a concrete wall.
“Cowboy” fell off his horse
But the fugitive did not give up. He ran away – in the direction of a paddock. “There the man sat on a horse to continue his escape with the animal,” the detectives continued. However, that did not happen. The suspect fell off his horse and was apprehended by police officers. Pepper spray was also used. The Italian defended himself en masse and damaged, among other things, an emergency vehicle.
drugs seized
A 30 centimeter long kitchen knife was found and secured with the 20-year-old. “In a subsequent search of the suspect’s home, a small amount of cannabis herb was seized.” The Italian has been transferred to Kufstein Hospital. Further investigations and interrogations follow.
