Russia says it shot down two Ukrainian drones aimed at the Moscow Kremlin. The Kremlin then accused Ukrainian leaders of an attempted assassination attempt on President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday. There are said to be no injuries or damage in the incident – Putin was not injured either.
According to the Interfax news agency, the Kremlin described the attack as a “planned act of terrorism” and declared it an attempt on the life of the Russian president. Russian defenses repelled the attack on Putin’s official residence.
“On Tuesday night, the Kiev regime attempted to use a drone to attack Russian President Vladimir Putin’s residence in the Kremlin,” the statement said. “Two UAVs were aimed at the Kremlin. The planes were knocked out by the timely intervention of the military and special services using radar warfare systems.
Russia wants to “react”
The Kremlin said Putin’s work schedule has not changed. However, Russia reserves the right to respond. Images circulating on Russian social media showing smoke rising above the Kremlin after the alleged attack.
