Your living conditions are shocking, Bianca K. misses a lot. Still, she tries to keep her small family together. The constant effort to provide her five-year-old daughter Lena with a good life left almost no one unmoved.
Private individuals, acquaintances or founders of companies opened their hearts after our report. Countless readers from all over Styria came forward on Monday wanting to help the single mother. Many were spontaneously willing to give little Lena toys and clothes or to go shopping with Bianca K.
Together to the sea
For example, a pensioner offered to take the two to Italy for a week in a mobile home so that the girl could finally see the sea for herself and also talk about a summer holiday in kindergarten: “Why should I leave alone if you can travel together and maybe even make someone happy with it?”
“I know what it’s like not to eat”
An entrepreneur wanted to donate money quickly and unbureaucratically to make things easier for both of them. One subscriber told us: “I know from my own experience what it’s like not to have a normal lunch at the table. You never forget something like that. Now I am doing well and I have a happy life, so I want to give something back.”
In addition to coupons for groceries, homemade goods were also offered. “I keep fruit, I like to make jam. It’s like occupational therapy to me, but I often don’t even know what to do with it,” says another reader. “I am shocked how it is possible that a mother in our country does not know how to properly feed her child and do without everything herself?” A Styrian was shocked.
