American rock band Imagine Dragons released a music video for the song “Crushed”. The special thing is that it was filmed in Ukraine and tells a personal fate – including heartbreaking images.
Since the beginning of the Russian offensive war, the Imagine Dragons have been supporting Ukraine and helping to raise money for humanitarian aid. The clip was made as part of the “UNITED24” campaign, a charity platform founded on the initiative of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Under Russian occupation
The photos (see video above) tell the story of 14-year-old Sasha from the Mykolaiv region of Ukraine. The youth’s native village, Novogrigorovka, was under Russian occupation for five months. Heavy fighting broke out in the area.
“Every house here was torn apart by enemy shells and some courtyards were burned down,” said the program “Fakty” of the private Ukrainian TV channel “ICTV”. In November 2022, Ukrainian authorities announced that the Mykolaiv region had been completely liberated.
Everything destroyed
According to the group’s frontman, Dan Reynolds, Sascha’s family is still living without electricity. The clip also describes how no stone was left unturned in the village of Nowogrigorovka. Thanks to an air raid shelter, Sascha survived the constant shelling.
It is said that not everyone was lucky, his neighbors were dead. The boy’s house was completely destroyed – according to information, Sascha and his family lost everything. And it’s just one of thousands of stories. But like many other Ukrainians, they hope to rebuild their homes one day. As we all know, hope dies last.
