Many sweet tooths have been waiting for this sweet news for a long time: the traditional brand Niemetz is now launching a white Swedish bomb for the first time. The “Kokostraum” will be available in supermarkets from next week. These kinds of innovations are countermeasures against cost pressure, the general manager reveals.
“Kokostraum” is written on the package, which Bernhard Kletzmair opened and placed on the table, which contains six white Niemetz Sweden bombs. “Now hammas,” says the 49-year-old from Hinterstoder and smiles. The Upper Austrian has been managing director of Heidi Chocolat AG, based in Wiener Neudorf, for a year now – and is now presenting “the biggest product innovation in recent years” in the Swedish bomb kingdom.
White variant
The whipped egg whites on a wafer, covered with a cocoa glaze, with or without grated coconut – that’s how the sweets were known until now. Until now. A white version has been available in the Niemetz factory outlet since Thursday and will also be available in supermarkets from next week.
The company worked on the novelty for six years. “The challenge was to get a crisp white glaze. And that the whipped cream doesn’t collapse when it’s covered with the icing,” says Kletzmair about the snags. During development, more than ten recipes were tested until one made it to the race. The boss of Heidi Chocolat Austria expects a lot of demand: “Because many customers and retailers have always asked for a white Swedish bomb.”
Acquired ten years ago
Additional turnover must be made with innovations, which must compensate for the significantly increased costs in all areas. Incidentally, the “new” brand was launched ten years after the severe Niemetz crisis, when the brand went bankrupt and was taken over by Heidi Chocolat AG.
