In the early hours of Saturday morning, an Italian family narrowly escaped a crime in their mobile home in Feistritz an der Drau. A burglar had tried to get into the vehicle, but was interrupted by the vacationer’s son.
The 62-year-old Italian alerted the police around 4 a.m. on Saturday and reported that someone had tried to break into his mobile home with a screwdriver, which was parked in the parking lot of the Feistritz service area on the Drau. . “At the time of the crime, four people were sleeping in the camper. The 35-year-old son was in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle door, which the perpetrator manipulated,” said a police officer.
The movements of the vehicle woke the Italian, so he went out and checked. He met the stranger in the parking lot. After a short conversation, he took a screwdriver from his jacket pocket. “He asked the 35-year-old in Italian, probably with an Albanian accent, to go back to the motorhome,” an official said. The holidaymaker withdrew and the perpetrator fled in an unknown direction.
An immediate search by the Feistritz/Drau Police Inspectorate and the Spittal/Drau Highway Police (API) and with the support of the police dog patrol has so far been negative. Appropriate information is received from API Spittal on 059133-2236.
