Nepalese mountain guide Kami Rita conquered the summit of Mount Everest for the 27th time on Wednesday. The experienced mountain guide has thus extended his own record.
“He successfully summited this morning, accompanied by a Vietnamese climber,” was gleefully announced on Wednesday.
Kami Rita has been a mountain guide for over two decades and in that time has conquered numerous peaks, including K2, the second highest mountain in the world. In 1994 he climbed Mount Everest for the first time. In 2019, the 53-year-old climbed the top of the world’s highest mountain of 8,849 meters twice within six days.
Another record broken
Also on Wednesday, British mountain guide Kenton Cool conquered the highest point in the world for the 17th time. In doing so, he extended his own record for most ascents of the summit by a non-Nepali.
