The police in Spittal were able to clear up a robbery on a 25-year-old from Upper Carinthia. Two Afghans were arrested as suspects and taken to prison.
Last Saturday, a 25-year-old from Upper Carinthia reported being robbed around 2 a.m. in the Spittal area by two initially unknown people. The perpetrators stole the wallet with about 100 euros in cash, the wristwatch and the necklace of their victim. According to the police, the victim was then urged to withdraw more money from the ATM.
Knocked down and beaten by Duo
But the 25-year-old managed to break free and run away. Shortly afterwards, however, he was caught again by the robber duo, pulled to the ground and beaten. The Spittal was injured but was able to escape and catch a taxi home before filing a complaint in the afternoon.
Based on the information provided by the victim, the Spittal police officers, together with colleagues from the National Criminal Investigation Department, were able to investigate a known 21-year-old Afghan man as a suspect who was arrested on Wednesday in the course of a fight on behalf of the Public Prosecution Service with another 28 year old Afghan man in Spittal city park.

During a search of the 21-year-old’s apartment, the officers managed to secure the stolen wristwatch and necklace. During police questioning, the Afghan confessed to the crime and explained that his 28-year-old opponent in the brawl was also involved in the robbery. However, he did not confess to the police. Both were transferred to the prison in Klagenfurt by order of the public prosecutor’s office.
