A motorist drove on a highway in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate with more than 3.5 promille. A witness called 911 Friday and reported that a car was lurching and there had been a number of near misses, police said. When the drunk then drove on a state highway, more emergency calls came in.
Finally, the driver was stopped. The 24-year-old had to take a breath alcohol test – and that showed more than 3.5 promille. The man now has to answer for driving under the influence, traffic risks and suspected negligent drunkenness.
Cyclists stopped at over 4 per thousand
The day before – so on Ascension Day – a cyclist was stopped in Baden-Württemberg at more than four per thousand. A patrol noticed his unsafe driving style on the pedestrian / bicycle path in Singen, the police in Reutlingen reported on Friday. The 33-year-old has to answer for driving under the influence. He is also threatened with having his driver’s license revoked.
According to the German Federal Center for Health Education, an alcohol content of more than three promille can be life-threatening or fatal.
