Large-scale action in the late Saturday afternoon for water rescue and fire brigade in Imst, Tyrol: a rafting boat with twelve occupants capsized in the raging Inn. A man got stuck in a loop and had to be rescued by the guide. Everyone else was able to make their way to shore unharmed.
According to the police, the dangerous incident happened around 5 p.m. A 22-year-old rafting guide was trying to take a group of 11 people from the entrance west of Imst train station to Haiming when the boat got stuck on two wooden poles sticking out of the water shortly after the start.

“The boat was partially submerged and capsized. A 28-year-old German got into a loop with his right foot and was unable to free himself. The guide rushed to his aid and brought the slightly injured man ashore,” the researchers said.
Boat salvaged by pulley
All other occupants managed to save themselves on the bank about 20 meters further downstream. Except for the slightly injured, everyone escaped with a fright. The raft boat was eventually recovered from the Inn by the emergency services using a pulley system.
The water rescue services in Landeck and Innsbruck and the volunteer fire brigade in Rietz and Imst were deployed.
