A severe storm has led to a deadly drama at a school in Thailand: the metal roof of a school sports field collapsed due to the strong gusts of wind, killing several children.
At least seven students were killed in the accident in Phichit province, the Bangkok Post newspaper reported on Tuesday, citing authorities. 25 other children were injured, some seriously.
The storm arose early Monday evening when the children and young people played volleyball and football in the covered area. Suddenly the whole structure collapsed, it was said.
Significant storm damage
The storm also affected numerous other homes in the region. The full extent of the damage is still unclear. The province is located about 300 kilometers north of Bangkok.
