In an evasive maneuver, the truck and trailer left the roadway in Wieting (district of Sankt Veit an der Glan) on Monday morning and got stuck in the soft soil of the roadside. The truck threatened to overturn.
To recover the truck, two towing companies first had to pump the load – several tons of cement – from the silo trailer onto another truck. Only then could the stuck truck be pulled onto the roadway.
The Wieting volunteer fire brigade was also deployed with eleven people and three vehicles.
Road closed for three hours
Traffic had to be diverted over a large area. The road was reopened to traffic three hours later. There was minor damage to the truck and trailer. The driver (37) from Slovakia was unharmed.
