Good things take time: in 2017, two burglars broke into a bank in Linz. A second burglary now killed one of them. Because he left fingerprints, the police were eventually able to convict the alleged perpetrator.
Years after two burglaries in one Linzer Bank and a Salzburg old town company, the police have now arrested a suspected perpetrator in Anif near Salzburg (Flachgau). The 37-year-old Pole had Linzer Financial institution left fingerprints that now became fatal to him.
Burglary without loot
In September 2017, two burglars entered the bank in Upper Austria through a window. However, they were disturbed when opening the cash drawer, so they fled without taking any loot. The police were then able to secure fingerprints and the surveillance camera also provided usable material.
In July 2018, burglars failed to drill open the two safes in a Salzburg old town shop, but they stole crockery worth a five-figure euro amount. The traces of a perpetrator matched those in Linz agreed, and an arrest warrant was therefore issued against the Pole.
No explanation
In mid-May, the 37-year-old was finally arrested in Anif and taken to Salzburg prison. The man refused to testify and therefore gave no information about the accomplice.
