Attention holidaymakers! – Motorway vignette in Slovenia more expensive from mid-June

Date:

Holiday trips to or through Slovenia are becoming more expensive. The neighboring country will increase the price for the motorway vignette by 6.8 percent from June 15, the government in Ljubljana decided on Thursday. The vignette price has not changed since 2013. Since last year there is only the digital vignette in Slovenia.

The price for the annual vignette for cars will increase from the current 110 to 117.5 euros. The monthly vignette will become two euros more expensive to 32 euros and the weekly vignette will cost 16 euros in the future, one euro more than before.

Vignette compulsory on motorways and expressways
The vignette is mandatory on Slovenian highways and highways for all vehicles with a total weight of up to 3.5 tons. From now on, motorcyclists pay 58.70 euros for the annual vignette, the half-yearly vignette will increase to 32 euros and the weekly vignette to 8 euros. The price for vans will increase to 235 euros for the annual vignette or around 64 euros for the monthly vignette and 32 euros for the weekly vignette. Campers are in the same price range as cars.

The proposal came from Autobahngesellschaft
The government approved the proposal of the highway company DARS after the price increase, Slovenian Infrastructure Minister Alenka Bratušek said at a press conference after the cabinet meeting. The toll increase is necessary because DARS needs to be financially secure in the long term to be able to carry out all planned projects, she explains.

Second tube from the Karawanken tunnel to Austria as an important project
Major ongoing projects include the second tube from the Karawanken tunnel to Austria and the north-south highway. DARS expects additional income of 5.3 million euros this year and 14.6 million euros next year.
