According to media reports, a masked man attacked several people with a gun and a knife in the Japanese city of Nakano. A woman and two police officers were fatally injured, after which the man shot at onrushing officers and hid in a building.
Police received information that the woman had been stabbed. After officers arrived at the alleged crime scene, the suspect shot them.
The situation was confusing at first
The suspect is said to have holed up in a building surrounded by police. He is said to have been wearing camouflage clothing, a hat, sunglasses and a mask when he escaped. The firearm was believed to be a shotgun.
According to reports, residents were asked to stay in their apartments. Nakano is located in Nagano Prefecture on the main island of Honshu.
