A neighbor in Anmlach may have become a lifesaver: the East Tyrolean discovered in the early hours of the morning that the house next door was on fire. He woke up the residents sleeping inside and helped them escape the house.
The neighbor got up around 3 a.m. on Sunday and noticed the fire in the house next door and immediately alerted the fire brigade. “When we arrived at the house, the building was already completely on fire,” said Michael Preyer, commander of the Amlach fire brigade.
The woman and children who had slept in the apartment building were safe in time thanks to the observant neighbor. Preyer: “The man ran into the house and woke her up and took her out.”
The Amlach, Tristach, Leisach and Lienz fire brigades were on fire with 97 firefighters and twelve vehicles. “The flames spread to the rafter and hit the basement,” says Preyer. The damage to the house is enormous. It is currently not habitable.
