The discussion about Hitler’s birthplace in Braunau has flared up again and will probably never end. But there are many more historically charged places in Upper Austria. And dealing with it is very different. From clearing the map to doing nothing to renovating.
“Not everyone who photographs the Hitler House is a neo-Nazi. I also visited and photographed the birthplaces of Stalin and Mussolini,” said historian Florian Kotanko at a panel discussion in Linz around Hitler’s home in Braunau. The Ministry of the Interior has decided to redesign it to become a police station with a training center for human rights issues, but the criticism continues.
