Two small children and their 60-year-old grandmother fell into a steep slope in a tuk-tuk in Styria on Sunday evening. The driver was seriously injured and her grandchildren (aged 2 and 5) who were traveling with her suffered minor injuries.
Just after 6 p.m., the 60-year-old was driving around in a tuktuk (three-wheeled motor vehicle) near her farm in Birkfeld (Weiz district). The two grandchildren sat in the front seat next to their grandmother. For unknown reasons, the 60-year-old lost control of the vehicle and fell with the tuk-tuk about 30 meters from a steep slope. She was able to call her husband, who in turn set the rescue chain in motion.
While the grandchildren suffered bruises and abrasions and were taken by ambulance to the children’s clinic in Graz for medical clarification, the driver was seriously injured. After first aid, the 60-year-old was flown by C 12 rescue helicopter to the Graz regional hospital. A breathalyzer test on the driver was negative.
