The Pentecost weekend in Lower Austria has been very busy for the mountain rescue team so far. Three trips were made at the Rax alone. On Sunday evening, a toddler (1) had to be transported by helicopter on the Rax in Lower Austria. According to the mountain rescue service, the girl had been vomiting and suffering from headaches.
A helicopter capable of flying at night was called in to transport the small child to hospital as quickly as possible. In addition to the incident with the toddler, a 49-year-old was also taken care of after a fall on the so-called Göbl-Kühn-Steig.
Two more cases on Pentecost Sunday
The woman suffered head and foot wounds and bruises and was eventually rescued with a rope from “Christophorus 3”. Due to an internal emergency at the mountain station, a 22-year-old also required medical attention.
A 75-year-old and his one-and-a-half-year-old grandchild were also injured to an undetermined degree on Saturday evening after a winch tipped over and both became trapped. Similarly, a missing 45-year-old was found dead in the Ötscher area in the Mitterbach area on Lake Erlaufsee in Lower Austria after three police dogs, 21 rescue dogs, drones and an air traffic police helicopter searched for the missing person.
