The planned construction of a biogas production plant right next to a residential area enraged residents in Gunnersdorf (Lower Austria). The “Krone” knows what the system should look like and has asked local residents, politicians, but also the company about the plans.
One of Austria’s most modern and sustainable biogas plants is being planned on the Fuchsluger site in Aschbach in the Amstetten district. After winning a European tender from the municipal services association, up to 40,000 tons of organic waste and green waste must be processed there from 2025 onwards. But not everyone on the ground is happy with the large-scale investment. Especially the immediate residents in the Gunnersdorf district. “There is a threat of enormous odor nuisance,” says Rupert Mayrhofer angrily.
