Did they strike again? Last week, crooks stole a safe in the greater Schärding area of Upper Austria. Now another one has been stolen. The perpetrators were probably the same in both cases. But this time the loot was taken from them again.
Within just a few days, a gang of burglars specifically targeting safes will likely have struck again in the Schärding area. After a successful coup last week in a car wash in St. Florian am Inn, the same crooks also allegedly struck at a gas station in Schärding on Tuesday evening. A shop window had been smashed there, causing the perpetrators to climb in and rip the safe out of its anchorage.
During a routine check on Tuesday in Neuhaus am Inn (Passau district), German police officers were able to arrest a vehicle containing three men. All occupants jumped out of the car and fled on foot. The safe of the BP gas station in Schärding was then secured in her car. The suspects are believed to be Romanians, the police are investigating.
