After Putin Quarter – Drone Attack on Russian Oil Refinery

Date:

Following the worst attack on Moscow’s posh Rublevka district since World War II, as one Russian exile put it after the drone attacks on the capital, an oil refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar region was targeted on Wednesday.

According to the governor of the region, a fire broke out in the early hours of the morning at the Afipsky oil refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar Territory. It was probably caused by a drone, Governor Veniamin Kondratiev wrote on Telegram. “There are no injuries.” The Afipsky Refinery is located not far from the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk. Media reports also spoke of a loud explosion.

According to Russian information, which has not yet been verified, the border town of Schebekino in the Belgorod region was also shelled by artillery on Wednesday. According to Belgorod governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, at least one person was injured on the Telegram news channel. Buildings and vehicles caught fire as a result of the shelling. Schebekino is only about seven kilometers from the border with Ukraine.

Celebrate Tote in Luhansk
According to the Russian coordination center, four people were killed in shelling in the eastern Ukrainian region of Luhansk. 16 other people were injured in the attack on Karpaty city. The Luhansk region in eastern Ukraine is almost entirely under Russian control.

British minister: Ukraine may attack Russian territory
British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said Ukraine has the right to attack targets on Russian territory in self-defense. The conservative politician said this on Tuesday at a press conference with his Estonian counterpart Margus Tsahkna in the Estonian capital Tallinn. However, Cleverly declined to comment on the drones falling on Moscow. “I have no details and I will not speculate on the nature of the drone attacks on Moscow,” he said. In principle, however, it is part of Ukraine’s right of self-defense to attack outside its own territory in order to reduce Russia’s ability to attack Ukrainian territory. “Legitimate military targets beyond its own borders are part of Ukraine’s right to self-defense,” Cleverly said.

Drone attack on Moscow: Kiev denies responsibility
However, the drone strike may also have hit civilian targets. Two were reported injured. The Kremlin blames Kiev for the drone strikes. The Ukrainian government rejects this.
