It should have been a fun session of stand-up paddle boarding on a beach at Agia Agatha on the Greek holiday island of Rhodes. But then a thunderstorm came up. Scott Sendon, 26, was struck by lightning and died.
Eyewitnesses told the Mail Online about heartbreaking scenes. So Sendon’s wife filmed the accident with her cell phone. “Suddenly I heard the girl screaming for help,” a man told the British medium. “I went in the water, pulled him out and did first aid.”
‘At one point I saw him turn blue’
At first he still had hope that the lightning victim would survive. “He tried to breathe. I thought he would recover. Finally I saw him turn blue.”
Paramedics quickly took over and Sendon was taken to a hospital. There the doctors lost the battle for his life.
Mobile phone video is being evaluated
The Rhodes Port Authority has launched an investigation. Among other things, the mobile phone is being looked at, with which the girlfriend of the victim would have recorded the fateful moments on video.
