In Italy, a 36-year-old Swede is said to have robbed and even injured countless elderly people. She fled after her conviction. But now the handcuffs click in Wels.
After a two-year flight, a 36-year-old Swede was arrested in Wels in Upper Austria for aggravated theft, robbery and intentional bodily harm. The arrest was made possible by the investigative work of the public prosecutor’s office in the central Italian city of Perugia, which immediately notified Interpol of the woman’s movements between Germany and Austria.
Elderly as victims
The woman, who is serving a prison sentence of four years and two months for crimes in the L’Aquila region, specialized in fraud against the elderly. She also used knives and other weapons. The Swede was admitted to Wels prison on Tuesday. Here she is now awaiting extradition to Italy.
