The original report comes from a person in Ukraine. Specifically, the Ukrainian army would have planned an attack with a small group of divers. Although this plan has been put on hold, parts of it are in line with the previous research results. Statements from the CIA, the governments in the US, Russia and Ukraine were not initially available.
Russia had been pumping natural gas from Siberia to Germany and other European countries through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline until the delivery halt. Nord Stream 2 was never used because of the war. In September 2022, both pipelines in the Baltic Sea were damaged by explosions.
Exploring “in all directions”
Who is behind this is still not fully understood. The head of Germany’s federal intelligence service, Bruno Kahl, said in May that there were indications “in all possible directions”. Various media had previously reported that new leads led to Ukraine. It could be someone serving in the Ukrainian army, it said.
