‘The Basque government has never left the negotiating table’

Date:

The Security Council pointed out that it is the trade unions that at some point, after many months of negotiations and the emergence of the trade union movement, decided to leave the table and join the mobilizations.

The first deputy hendakari and Security Council member, Josu Erkoreka, has assured that “he never, at any time, got up from the negotiating table, he never broke off negotiations” at the labor negotiating table with the Ertzaintza unions.

At the entrance to the Basque Parliament, Erkoreka referred to the conflict situation within the regional police and the request of Erne, Esan, Euspel and Sipe to hold an emergency meeting.

He explained again that it was the trade unions that “at some point, when the non-union movement comes on the scene, decide to get up from the table and join the mobilizations without hesitation.”

The consultant explained that up to that point negotiations for a new agreement had “been proceeding normally for many months, with many meetings”.

Erkoreka has insisted that the government is still willing to meet, that “the materials are still on the table, the issues semi-agreed and even agreed before they decided to stand up are still there.”

“If the unions want to go back and resume negotiations where they left off, the government will not be the one to oppose it, on the contrary,” he said.
