However, the fire brigade quickly had the small fire under control. “In the area between the municipalities of Großsteinbach, Ilz and Großwilfersdorf, we were called up for about 50 operations,” reports the fire chief of Fürstenfeld, Gerald Derkitsch of the “Krone”. Twelve fire brigades attended the scene.
Streets and basements flooded
In the region, streets and basements were flooded due to the amount of water, there were blockades, mud and branches blocked the traffic routes. “We have to pump out countless cellars and are busy with cleaning and tidying up,” reports Daniel Hasenburger, deputy commander of the Kroisbach fire brigade. 70 men from five fire departments are currently working to repair the damage caused by the storm. “We have 17 locations,” says Hasenburger.
