A 34-year-old Austrian is said to have stabbed his 72-year-old father in the back with a kitchen knife in their shared apartment in Vienna’s Ottakring district. The motive may have been an argument over money. The victim managed to escape from the apartment.
A passerby who saw the man bleeding on the street alerted the emergency services. While the 72-year-old was treated by the Viennese professional rescue service and taken to a hospital, police officers were able to identify the apartment.
Together with WEGA officials, the apartment was opened with the victim’s key. The alleged perpetrator was arrested without resistance. The officers confiscated the knife. The 34-year-old should have already cleaned it.
Victim not in danger
The victim was seriously injured in the incident, but his life was not in danger. The motive for the crime may have been a dispute over money.
