Provide emergency care – helicopter landing ban at clinic: climate sticker warning

Date:

The governor of Tyrol, Anton Mattle (ÖVP), reminds climate activists that from Monday no more emergency helicopters can land at the Innsbruck clinic. They had announced a “action sharp” in Tyrol for mid-June.

As reported several times, renovation work for the helipad at the clinic in Innsbruck will start on Monday. Helicopters are not allowed to land on the clinic tower for three months. In really urgent cases, the helicopter lands at Olympiaworld and the patients have to be taken to the clinic by ambulance. At the same time, climate activists announced that they would close Innsbruck and the entire country for a week in mid-June. And that can cause problems.

“These actions do not serve the cause”
LH Anton Mattle therefore once again appeals to the climate stickers in order not to endanger emergency care. The Tyrolean governor finds clear words with regard to the “Krone”: “I have a lot of understanding for the concerns about climate protection, but no understanding for climate glue. Through these actions we frighten people and lose them in the fight for climate protection, the energy – and transport transition.”

If the climate stickers no longer receive public attention, the actions will soon be discontinued, he says. That is why LH Anton Mattle focuses on the implementation of concrete measures, such as the expansion of renewable energy sources or the fight against excessive throughput. His way is through dialogue. “I’m always looking for involved people like those from ‘Fridays for Future’. I will soon be discussing Tyrol’s contribution to climate protection with the ‘Scientists for Future’ group at the Ferdinandeum,” Mattle told the Krone.

Already 1700 reports and 400 arrests
However, when the emergency room is compromised, Mattle’s willingness to talk ends. “When it comes to emergency care, the fun ends. The clinic’s helipad is being renovated, so that care will increasingly take place on the ground. I therefore appeal to the activists to refrain from such dangerous disruptive actions with traffic obstructions, especially during the critical period of the renovation of the heliport.”

If reason is lacking, the state must intervene. “When it comes to quickly ending unreported disruptive actions that endanger life and limb, I fully support the emergency services and police,” emphasizes LH Mattle. By the way, since the beginning of the year there have been more than 1,700 reports against climate adhesives throughout Austria and 400 people have been arrested.
