Big shock in a shopping center in Bad Gleichenberg: On Monday afternoon, a nine-year-old girl broke through a skylight on the roof of the building and fell four meters into the store below. The girl was flown to Graz Children’s Hospital with serious injuries.

On Monday afternoon, two mothers with their nine-year-old daughters were in a restaurant in the center of Bad Gleichenberg (Southeast Styria). As usual, the children left the table to play. But apparently their curiosity was their downfall: according to the police, the children climbed a staircase over a chain-link fence and reached the green roof of the mall.

There are several plastic skylights for the shops below. One of the two girls climbed on such a dome and collapsed in the process. The nine-year-old fell four meters and landed on a counter in the store below. Two saleswomen from the fashion store immediately alerted the rescue team.

He was flown to Children’s Hospital with serious injuries
After initial treatment by a doctor who happened to be present and then by the emergency department, the girl was flown by rescue helicopter to the children’s ward of the Graz Regional Hospital. The nine-year-old suffered serious injuries in her fall, at least one fracture.

Police say further investigation into the accident is necessary.
