Bus full of migrants – smuggler sped away from the police in a cocaine intoxication

Date:

Shocking details become known after the arrest of a Turk (37). The suspected smuggler – who was traveling on the A3 in a minibus with 20 refugees – was under the influence of drugs. Among other things, he filed a complaint for endangering the community.

Officials who had to stop a fleeing smuggler last Friday were in the greatest danger. As reported, the 37-year-old Turkish police officer’s minivan, overloaded with refugees, was spotted on the southeastern highway (A3) near Müllendorf. The driver had given full throttle.

Caught after fleeing
With breakneck speed, the driver kept trying to push the pursuers in the patrol car against the guardrail. At the Pottendorf exit in the Baden district of Lower Austria, the driver stopped abruptly, jumped out of the bus on the passenger side and ran away. He wasn’t even stopped by warning shots into the ground. In Weigelsdorf was the end of the line.

After the arrest, it turned out that the driver had used cocaine. Small amounts of drugs for personal use were found on the bus.

Two unaccompanied girls
Originally there was talk of 18 refugees who would have been in the tug bus. In fact, there were 20 migrants of all age groups, all Turkish Kurds. Specifically, there were two families – one with four, the other with two children. Two girls, believed to be 12 and 13 years old, stranded unaccompanied in Austria. The rest of the group were men.

Gang tactics
The arrested suspect has so far not made any statements about the seized drugs and the illegal transport. The suspect refused to make a statement. However, the investigations showed how the human trafficking gangs currently operate: migrants officially and legally travel by plane from Istanbul to Belgrade because Turks do not need a visa for Serbia anyway.

“After landing, the criminal organization takes the passports of those affected, after which they are considered refugees,” explains a detective. For illegal transport to Austria or Germany, a minimum of 15,000 euros per family is collected from the gangs.

Serious accusations
The list of accusations against the 37-year-old suspect is long. He takes charges of gang smuggling, defiance of state authority and endangering the community. The last offense concerns the life-threatening driving style of the suspect, which put both the 20 refugees in the van and the police officers at the scene at great risk.
